Coach quickstart

This page takes you from a new account to a week of training your athletes can see. It takes about fifteen minutes.

StrideUp is in a closed beta. A new account waits on the waitlist until we approve it.

  1. Open the web app and sign in. Use Google, Apple, or a one-time email code.
  2. StrideUp asks whether you coach a team or train with one. Choose that you coach.
  3. If your account is not approved yet, you land on the waitlist page. Wait for the approval email, which links straight back to this step.
  4. After approval, name your team on the setup screen.
  5. Set the timezone of the team. This sets the hour your athletes get their morning reminder.
  6. Add your title, for example “Sprints” or “Strength Coach”. This step is optional.

Your team now exists, and you are its Head Coach.

  1. Open Team in the sidebar.
  2. Select Invite.
  3. Enter the email address of the person.
  4. Select the role: Athlete or Assistant Coach.
  5. Send the invite.

The person joins your team when they first sign in with that email address. You do not need to approve them again.

You can also skip the typing. Every team has a join code you read out at training, and each athlete who uses it appears on your roster for you to add. See Hand out your join code.

A training group is a part of your team that trains together, for example “U18 sprints” or “hurdles”. Every athlete belongs to one group.

  1. On the Team page, select New group.
  2. Name the group.
  3. Assign each athlete to a group from the roster.

Groups let one season serve several squads. The groups share most of their training, and differ only on the days you make them differ.

  1. Open Plan in the sidebar.
  2. Start a new season. The wizard has four steps.
  3. The season — set the start date, the end date, and the days of the week you train.
  4. Goal competitions — add the meets you build toward. You can add these later.
  5. Cycles — accept or change the macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles the wizard proposes.
  6. Ready — read the summary, then create the season.

Nothing is written until the last step. Everything the wizard creates stays editable afterward.

The season page opens on the month board. Each day shows every session that happens on it.

  1. Make sure that the Viewing picker says Everyone. This shows the team plan and every deviation from it.
  2. Select an empty day. It opens as the team’s plan.
  3. Select Blank workout to write one, or From the library to place one you already have.
  4. Build the workout from its sections: warm-up, running, strength, and core.

Select a session on the board, and the day opens as that session’s own plan.

To plan for one group or one athlete, change the Viewing picker first. What you view is what you edit. StrideUp branches that day off the team plan for you.

Athletes never see a draft. A workout reaches them only after you publish it.

  1. Open a day you planned.
  2. Select Publish.

Your athletes see the workout in the phone app when its week arrives.
