Sign-in methods
The three methods
Section titled “The three methods”| Method | Web | Phone app |
|---|---|---|
| Yes | Yes | |
| Apple | Yes | Not yet |
| One-time email code | Yes | Yes |
Both apps send you to the same sign-in page, hosted by StrideUp. Apple is hidden in the phone app until native Sign in with Apple ships.
One person, one account
Section titled “One person, one account”StrideUp identifies you by your verified email address.
Google, Apple and an email code with the same address are the same person. You can sign in one way today and another way tomorrow, and land in the same account.
Apple can hide your address behind a private relay. StrideUp stores Apple’s own stable identifier as well, so you are still recognised on a later sign-in.
What happens on your first sign-in
Section titled “What happens on your first sign-in”Your coach invited you and the addresses match, so you join their team in the role they picked. Nothing else is asked of you.
If nobody invited you, StrideUp asks one question: do you coach a team, or train with one?
You coach. You land on the waitlist. StrideUp is in a closed beta, and a head coach creates a team only after we approve the account. We email you when we do.
You train. The phone app asks for your team’s join code, which opens a request your coach answers. See Join a team.
The question is asked once, and only of someone nobody invited.
How long a session lasts
Section titled “How long a session lasts”Your access lasts about an hour, and refreshes on its own for about thirty days. You do not sign in every day.
The web app keeps your session in a secure browser cookie. The phone app keeps it in the app’s own storage.
Losing access
Section titled “Losing access”A Head Coach can deactivate a member. Access ends straight away, whatever their session says, so there is no waiting period.
