StrideUp is a training app for track and field sprint teams. A coach plans the season. Athletes report back on how the training lands. This page says what we collect to make that work, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Who is responsible
Dries Heyninck is the data controller for StrideUp, as an individual trader.

Write to that address about anything on this page, including a request to see or erase your data.
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name and email address | To identify you and to send you email about your account |
| An identifier from Google or Apple, if you sign in with one | To recognise you when you sign in again |
| Your team, your role, and your training group | To decide what you can see and do |
| Your daily check-ins: sleep, energy, soreness, and a note | To show your coach how you are, so the plan can change |
| The body areas that feel sore, and which side | To show your coach where an injury risk is |
| Your session reports: how a workout went, your RPE, and a note | To show your coach how the training landed |
| Your one-rep maxes and personal bests | To track your progression |
| The competitions you enter and your results | To track your progression and to plan toward a goal meet |
| A notification token for each device, and its platform | To send you the reminders you turned on |
| Your notification choices | To send you only what you asked for |
| Your language | To show the app and send email in your language |
We also keep a few things that only make the service work safely: a short-lived code when you sign in by email, a count of failed attempts to join a team, and the date each record was created or changed.
What we do not collect
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, or files
- Data from Apple Health, Google Fit, or any other health app
- Advertising identifiers
- Analytics about how you use the app
Health data needs your consent
A check-in records how sore you are, which body areas hurt, and anything you write in the note. A session report can say that you stopped early because of an injury. This is health data. European law gives health data more protection than other data, and it needs your explicit consent.
You give that consent when you file a check-in or a session report. You do not have to file either one. If you do not, you can still use the rest of the app: you can see your week, your workouts, your numbers, and your results.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. Write tohello@getstrideup.app, or delete your account from the app, which erases everything at once. Withdrawing your consent does not undo what was lawful before you withdrew it.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- To give you the service you asked for. Your name, your email address, your team and your role, your numbers, and your results. Without these there is no account and no plan.
- Your consent. Your check-ins, your sore body areas, and your session reports, as the section above explains. Also the notifications you turn on.
- Our legitimate interest in a service that works. The limits on failed sign-in codes and failed join attempts, which stop a stranger from guessing their way into a team.
Who can see your data
Your coaching staff
The coaches on your team see your check-ins, your sore body areas, your session reports, your one-rep maxes, your personal bests, and your competition results. That is the product: a coach cannot adapt a plan they cannot see. Coaches on other teams see none of it.
The companies that run the service for us
| Who | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services | Runs the service and sends our email | Ireland (EU) |
| Turso | Stores the database | EU |
| Google Firebase | Delivers notifications to your phone | United States |
| Cloudflare | Answers our domain names and forwards our email | Global |
| Google, Apple | Confirm who you are when you sign in with them | United States |
A notification carries only a short title and one line of text. It never carries a check-in, a note, or a number.
The transfers to the United States use the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Nobody else
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers. We give it to an authority only when the law makes us.
How long we keep it
- While you have an account. Your data stays until you delete your account. If your coach removes you from a team, your account stays and so does your data, so write to us or delete the account if you want it gone.
- When you delete your account, everything goes at once. The app has a Delete account button on the profile screen. It erases your check-ins, your session reports, your numbers, your results, your devices, and your account itself. You cannot undo it, and your coach can no longer see any of it.
- A sign-in code expires after 10 minutes.
- An invitation to join a team expires after 30 days.
- Backups. The companies above keep short-term backups. A record you erased can stay in a backup for a short time before it is written over.
You must be 16 or over
You must be 16 or over to hold a StrideUp account. If you are younger, your parent or guardian has to agree before you join, and your coach invites you on that basis.
If you believe we hold data about a child under 16 without that agreement, write tohello@getstrideup.app and we will erase it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you
- correct it when it is wrong
- erase it
- send it to you, or to someone else, in a machine-readable form
- stop using it for a while, or stop a particular use
You can also withdraw a consent you gave, as the health data section explains.
Write to hello@getstrideup.app. We answer within one month.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be), or to the authority where you live.
Changes to this page
When we change this page we change the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we tell you in the app or by email before it starts.
